Therapeutic Yoga for Sitting TOO Much

Welcome to Heal Wellness and Therapy!

In this therapeutic yoga session, we're addressing the common issue of prolonged sitting. Whether you spend long hours at a desk or simply want to relieve tension from sitting, this chair yoga class is for you.

Trudy, our experienced instructor, guides you through a sequence designed to target and alleviate tightness in four key muscle groups often affected by extended sitting: the hip flexors, including the psoas and iliacus muscles, the rectus femoris (part of the quadriceps group), and the quadratus lumborum (a back muscle).

All you need is a sturdy chair and, if desired, a yoga mat. Join us in this accessible seated yoga practice to unlock flexibility, release tension, and promote better posture.

Here's a breakdown of what you'll experience in this session:

1. Cat-Cow Warm-Up: Start with gentle spinal movements to awaken your body.

2. Hip Flexor Stretch: Learn how to open and release tension in the hip flexors while seated.

3. Rectus Femoris and Quadriceps Stretch: Discover an effective modification of the "couch stretch" to target these muscle groups.

4. Quadratus Lumborum Release: Ease tension in the lower back by stretching the quadratus lumborum muscle.

5. Hip Opener: Relieve hip discomfort and increase flexibility with a soothing hip-opening stretch.

6. Trunk Rotation: Finish with a seated trunk twist to enhance spinal mobility.

Throughout the session, Trudy emphasizes mindful breathing to enhance relaxation and release.
